Board of Trustees
The Garage Trust Ltd is guided by an experienced and dedicated board of trustees consisting of professionals from the business sector, local authorities and community based organizations. Each trustee provides valuable skills, experience and insights that support the management team and guide the strategic development of our work. Our current trustees are:
Andrew Dawson
Andrew began his career in accountancy at 21, after graduating from the University of Essex and accepting a graduate role at Lovewell-Blake Chartered Accountants in Norwich. In 2004 he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Norwich, and is currently a manager in the Assurance department. Andrew works with a wide range of both local and national businesses assisting in the review of both their financial information and the businesses control environments.
Bridget Buttinger
Bridget Buttinger is the Deputy Chief Executive of Norwich City Council. She has been with Norwich City Council since 1986, in a variety of roles, and her background is in Human Resources. Before that she worked in London mainly in the public sector, and for a short while in professional theatre and scientific publishing. Bridget was born and bred in Norwich.
Dawn Jackson
Don Smith
Don has over 23 years experience in the training and education field. He has worked as a trainer and manager for a variety of companies including: Regent Training, YMCA, NACRO, Dale Carnegie, Conoco Oil, Broadland District Council. Most of that training work has been in the areas of personal development. For the past 5 years he also worked as a part time Lecturer for various Colleges of FE including City College Norwich. He is a partner in the theatre based training company Moving Parts, using interative theatre to develop skills. A Trustee of the Garage for 7 years and Vice Chair for 5 years, he also chairs a Partnership Group made up of key personnel from the Theatre Royal and The Garage. He joined the Garage Board because he is passionate about the many ways that the Performing Arts can impact on young people.
Jonathon Barclay
Jonathan is a solicitor and was senior partner of Mills & Reeve. He is a non executive director of several companies. He was chairman of Norwich Theatre Royal when the Garage was set up as a partnership between the Theatre and NELM. He is also a director of the Forum Trust Ltd and chairman of the Britten Sinfonia
Michael Ladbrook
Peter Mitchell (Chair of the Board of Trustees)
Peter is an engineering graduate of Cambridge University and started his career with strategy consultants Booz.Allen & Hamilton. He then moved into retailing, first with Comet and then Storehouse (Mothercare and BHS). Peter was Finance & Development Director of Storehouse International, and then Finance Director of BHS. At Waterstone's Booksellers, Peter served as Business Development Director, and subsequently as Director of Retail in BSkyB's interactive division.
Peter moved to Norfolk in 2003 to join Jarrold & Sons Ltd, one of Norfolk's oldest and most highly-regarded businesses. He is Managing Director of the Retail Division and a Director of the parent company since 2005. He also currently serves as Chair of Norwich's City Centre Management Partnership which brings together businesses, City Council, and various other public and voluntary sector executives to promote the vitality of the city.
